  • The Italian American Police Association of Illinois offers its prayers and sympathy to the Family of Retired Cook County Sheriffs Correctional Officer James Accolti.   James was proud of his Italian heritage and was a proud member of the Italian American Police Association.  He was a Vietnam Veteran and had worked for the County for 20 years.   He was very much looking forward to retiring and spending some time in his birthplace of Mola Di Bari, but after a year long courageous fight with lung cancer the cancer won and he passed away on September 21st 2009 surrounded by family and friends.   He was a most loving and supportive husband, a loving and devoted father, loving son and brother and loyal friend.  Family meant everything to him and he lived his life for his family.    James was a great friend and an active member of the Association.  We will miss him greatly.
